Usually, Seafarers is one of the ones you need if you want to add more than one expansion to the base game. In the Catan Universe, there are expansions that you can combine with each other in addition to the original. Other expansions do offer a lot more elements. The only true new element is the addition of ships. However, if you have other Catan Expansions you will notice that Seafarers doesn’t offer much when it comes to new elements and strategy that you can add to your play. There isn’t much I can say I dislike about this game because every addition is a positive. You can play a different scenario each time you play so that your Catan gaming never gets old.
This really allows you to get your moneys worth out of this game. The scenarios offer different map variations and very different rules for each one. The game comes with 8 different scenarios. The other addition to this game are the added scenarios you can now play. This is a very cool part of the game as the board still changes every time you play just with more tiles. Because of the added ocean tiles the total game board is much larger than the base game. The ship aspect is a very welcome addition to the game. With this expansion you are able to build ships across oceans and discover new islands. The main added elements are ocean tiles and ships. Seafarers adds a few new elements to the original Catan.
Seafarers only adds pieces and some new rules for extended gameplay. You do need the original Catan to play Seafarers. Seafarers comes in the blue box and is an expansion of the original Catan. Welcome to the review for Catan Seafarers.
